QFT Limited

QFT Ltd has spun out from the Dundee University Amorphous Materials Group which 25 years ago started a revolution with its pioneering work on thin film electronics that underpins today’s large area electronics sector.

This is one of the first active matrix LCDs produced by the group in the early 1980s.

Ravi Silva - Co Founder and Technical Advisor

Professor Ravi Silva heads the Large Area Electronics and Nanotechnology Group, which is an integral part of the Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) at the University of Surrey. His research has resulted in over 200 presentations at international conferences, and over 150 journal papers.

In 2002 he was awarded the Charles Vernon Boys Medal by the Institute of Physics, and in 2003 he was awarded the IEE Achievement Award by the Institute of Electrical Engineers.

In 2003 he was also awarded the Albert Einstein Silver Medal and Javed Husain Prize by UNESCO for contributions to electronic devices.

Ravi is the co-inventor of the core field emission technology with Merv Rose.
